Summer day camps - ON pause

Below is a breakdown of the Summer Camps. Brooke (owner/creator), is hoping that Covid-19 will be under control by July, and that day camps can go forward.

Summer Camp Breakdown

Summer camps run for one week (Monday-Friday). Each day will include a new theme which the artwork will compliment (ex. Wildlife). Using a variety of media including acrylic paint, watercolour and coloured pencils, children will discover fine art, illustration, portraiture, design and more.

Brooke will lead the children toward their own version of the artwork at hand, guiding them with simple steps, while providing one on one direction. With small class sizes (3-7 students), children will receive plenty of attention.

Everyone will have several pieces to call their own, and Brooke will provide a digital version of all artwork (great for printing or sharing via social media). There will be breaks, lunch/snacks (please provide lunch/snacks), time for questions, games, sharing, learning, socializing and more.

Artwork To be captured

Progressive Painting (acrylic)

Everyday students will spend time on a progressive painting. Spending several hours on one piece, along with 24 hour breaks, will be a great experience. Students will aim to capture tiger eyes, while learning how to make them follow the viewers. Colours will be imagined. As everyone's painting progresses, Brooke will give each of her students separate advice, aiming to help her students find the right style that will help capture their best painting. Brooke always encourages creativity.

Design a Pattern (coloured pencil)

This piece is only offered within the Full Day Session

Using coloured pencils, students will cover their papers with a beautiful pattern, imagining they are designing wallpaper. Patterns work best when they are strategically designed, with a consistent and complimentary composition. Pattern styles are endless; perhaps students will continue to create their own at home.

image93

Symmetrical Design (coloured pencil)

Students will draw one half of this image. Standing alone it is a butterfly. Using her computer, Brooke will show her students what their butterfly looks like when repeated and flipped horizontally; children will love to witness this.

Winter Sunset Drawing (coloured pencil)

This piece is only offered within the Full Day Session

Students will recapture this drawing, learning how to create the cool and warm colours in the sky, along with the jagged texture within the far mountains and the soft, smooth texture of the snowy foreground.

image95

Music & Paint (watercolour)

Inspired by their classmates, Brooke and music, children must invent an Abstract watercolour, on the spot. Artwork begins with imagination. Children will surprise themselves.

image96

Mama Bear & Cub (coloured pencil)

This piece is only offered within the Full Day Session

Children will learn how to capture different textures, from the furry bears, to smooth snow, while discovering how to layer colours.

image97

Lion Portrait (coloured pencil)

Students will complete a coloured pencil drawing, aiming to recreate a realistic rendition of an adult lion.

image98

Invent a Face (coloured pencil)

This piece is only offered within the Full Day Session

Creativity and imagination is key when it comes to this piece. Children must invent a face and capture it using coloured pencils. It is important to portray emotion and personality. Brooke will inspire her students with portraits she has captured in the past.

image99

Eyes & Emotion (coloured pencil)

The object of this project is to portray emotion through a single eye. The final piece must include at least three eyes, each portraying a different emotion.

image100

Illustration (coloured pencil)

This piece is only offered within the Full Day Session

Brooke will show her students how to recapture this giraffe and dragon. Children can get creative with their style and colours, but a friendly personality must be illustrated.

Design Your Own Logo (coloured pencil)

Illustration involves logo design. Students will imagine they are illustrators and using their initials, they must invent their own logo. Please see some designs Brooke created with her own initials. Brooke will help inspire ideas, while showing her students how to combine letters in a complimentary design.
